Friday QuickSlice: Oscar's Pizza

Well this is exciting.

A few weeks back, I wrote cryptically that good pizza might be on its way to downtown Kokomo as part of the new development on North Buckeye.

Sure 'nuff, those signs didn't put themselves out there. (A person or persons did it, I think, but I'm still investigating.)

In any case, let me introduce you to Oscar's Pizza.
The interior is warm and inviting, with quirky decor and plenty of seating for larger parties as well as solo diners at the old-school bar or quick-service pizza window.

The concept is almost offensively simple and, frankly, long overdue for the downtown Kokomo lunch set or anybody, really, who likes NY-style pizza served in a cool, retroesque environment: a big slice of pizza, a side salad, and a quick pint of craft beer in under 15 minutes. Back to work before 1:30pm and no one's the wiser.

  • First dibs. The "Grand Opening" is planned for Friday, March 6th, to coincide with First Friday. (But the regular opening happens on February 23rd.)
  • Hippies and homeschoolers, rejoice! Gluten-free pies available.
  • Finally, A Slice of Kokomo.* Pizza-by-the-slice finally comes to downtown Kokomo!
  • Grandma's Boy. All pies can be ordered "Grandma Style," which I'm told means that it comes with a hand-crocheted beer koozie.
  • Blogging about pizza has its perks. Yes, I was bribed with treated to an advance slice of delicious cheese (pictured). Trust me: this pizza is not to be missed, folks.
  • Full review of Oscar's Pizza coming soon.
